Today I fished The North Umpqua again, and its kinda tough. I fished whistler to Page Rd, and that run has some of the best steelhead water in the state. Its a long run, 15 miles. We got some fish but it seemed like there wasnt a whole lot around. Any way I had a gal named gail today, and she is a kick, loves to fish. We had a good time and caught a few fish, and had a killer dinner. Jessica and the boys came over to hang with dad for a few days, Its nice the kids and I swam in the pool for a while tonight. Good to see my boys.
Man, today was more like it, they didnt bite that good early, but we got a couple, found a few more, and then a few more in the afternoon. We ended up with ten, and RJ, and Brek got what I expect every day when the water is good on the umpie.
This was a cold morning fish, it was cold.
Then the sun came out, it was a killer day.
RJ got our afternoon started. Good times.
Well today got off to a better start. My wife is the best, she came all the way over here to give me Rods, and some extra clothes. I cant wait to get stuff replaced, a guy doesn't realize what he has until he has to do with out it.
Fishing today was not as good, we hooked 6 landed 3, it just seemed sparse. I know they are below ammacher park, so I am headed down river tomorrow. The fishing should be good, and will get better every day threw march.
Our good buddy RJ with a north umpqua cromer.
Well it's me again doing the blog but Dustin is in Roseburg and I am currently with him in the motel. Last night after work Dustin headed toward Roseburg stopped in Bandon and then woke up this morning early to find all of his rods stolen and his dry bag with all of his fishing clothes gone; boots, bibs, jackets, hats. So needless to say I had to bring replacements. What a bummer.
Inspite of all that madness Dustin continued on to head to the water, got a late start but Jeremy and Brek got there day of fishing the Umpqua. They ended up hooking 8 and landing 7. Tomorrow they will be fishing another stretch of water and hope for more sucess.
Dustin has been here fishing local on the Chetco the past few days. They have been catching a few each day. It has been nice having him around, and it's been quite a bit this month, but he doesn't get to doing the fishing report as often like when he's on the road hanging in a motel room. Our evenings have been spent with family.
He's back on the road again and headed back North where he will be for a few days and should keep you up to date on the progress and success.
Man Sorry its been a week, I just got caught up with work, and Badgers 7th birthday which was on the 15th. Time flys. Fishing has been great though, On the 14, 15 Jack and I fished a groop that we have been fishing for ever. Greg warner brought up a group of guys and we had a good trip, jack and I both had double digits on saterday. Friday was a little high, but We both got a couple. Then we got smoked, and for the next three days I drove all over hell and back, fishing was tough but it was fun, my buddie dane nissen came with a cool group of farmers from cali, we had a great time
Now that the water has settled down we are back more local, I fished the sixes today with Parr Lumber, it was tough, high water but we got a few, 3 steelhead and one crome bright salmon, It was a beautiful sunny day, but not the numbers I was banking on.. I am going to fish the chetco tomorow, Heard it was ok today.
Well the last 3 days went ok, I didn't Catch as many as I should have, but fishing was ok. On Wednesday i fished up river on the north umpqua, and it was sparse, we had 3 on, lame. On thursday It rained like a cow pissing on a flat rock, wet, but warm. The snow level was 6,000 feet, so every thing jacked up. We fished the Main umpqua, got some nice fish, watch a buddy of mine put on a show, but we got a half dozen, good enough. Colvig will use yarn now. And this photo I have of him is the ultimate sign of focus, it was a good time, dimbo and colvig always keep it cool. I also had the best night of sleep in a long time. Thanks dimbo.
So we had a good time. Today jack and I did the super tour of the south coast, and ended up right back to where we started. the elk was shitty this morning so we drove to the west millicoma to find mud, then to ten mile to find low water, and back to the elk by noon for some nice fish. The guys that went early didn't get em, when we got there it was just getting good, there were plenty of fish around, and we took out at black thirty, Jack style. Jason with a nice Girl,.
no photos today, we got one nice cromer today, fishing was tough. I had good dudes though, lots of laughs. The Coke needs a shot of fish. The water is fine but the numbers are not there. I did get a report that the chetco got a shot of fish today, so I might be heading back home after these next 2 days. Should be fun, dimbo and colvig.
Wow. it was cold, ice in the guides cold. I hated every second of it. it was the frozen tundra of coke field. We ended up with a couple, and the rest of my circle jerk crew did the same. I fished with my buddie joe dirt with 2 other dudes, it was ok, but not my style. we fished but not my deal. I could have gone uptop but I need it for my self. any way it was cold, and good enough. the pic is a nice hatchery fish. off to do what ever tomorow, after that the north umpie is on my mind ill be there on wed with my buddies dimbo and colvig
Well we are grinding away, I have been fishing up north for the last 3 days, and it has been good. Today we landed 10, yesterday we hooked 7 steelhead and one ugly salmon. So all in all there are enough fish. The water is low, clear, and very little pressure. When its like that you can get em, and there seems to be a few more fish than the last couple years on every system. Hell we gotem good on ten mile this season. Any way we have had a good time so far, I was fishing a buddy of mine from the california coast, and his future son inlaw Vern. It was Verns first time steelhead fishing and he waked em, He got 5 today, and 3 or 4 yesterday. I think I got a new dude hooked. I think I am going to the Coke tomorrow, a little variety.
